Believe (But Do You Believe It), 2003
A fundamental aspect of life is belief. We have to believe the ground will meet our foot at every step, that the next breath we take will contain air, that our planet will not suddenly plunge into the sun. Without belief, our life would be a constant battle with our environment. The same is true for our internal thoughts. We have to believe our spouses are faithful, our family loves us, our friends like spending time with us. Or do we? This piece challenges ideas that are core to everyone’s daily life and, as with other pieces in the Rorschach Series, can bring relief or dismay.
