Let's (Forget Everything But The Circus), 2004
At first blush, you might mistake this piece as a reference to the ee cummings play. I was in the City Wide Garage Sale one afternoon when I happened upon a small crochet panel, similar to the familiar “Home Sweet Home” cliché. This one said “Let’ forget everything but the circus.” In the corner were three balloons…blue, green, red. My mind was reeling. What could this possibly mean? It was obviously so important that someone spent hours crocheting it. Was it an apology? What could have happened that a formal apology had to be made like this, apparently to a child? I regret not buying it even though it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
